Had a great meeting with a potential client yesterday (offers a wide variety of insurance in York, PA). There’s just something that attracts me to family run businesses, whether it’s CFgear in South Dakota, Stephen Case’s network of non profits or, in this case, the Nicholas Insurance Agency. Of course, it’s partially because I can relate since I’m involved in a couple family run businesses too! It’s all part of the American work ethic, right? When the family works hard, things really pay off.
Speaking of family run businesses, we just took on the internet marketing for a new website of one of our clients, the Home Automation Store based in Texas. This site features solely incredible X10 deals. I guess I would be more accurate in describing it as only offering X10 package deals. We’ll be helping promote this new venture for them over the next several months and are eager to see this site become as successful as their mothership – www.TheHomeAutomationStore.com.
When it comes to family run businesses, CFgear is definitely a classic success story. They started back in mid 2006 as a small reseller of the then novel USB flash drives. We started serving them around April of 2007 and helped them grow into the multi million dollar company they are today. Now, they focus primarily on custom flash drives, and their customers can’t stop raving over them. I flew out to South Dakota last November and met the family which runs it – very nice people and a very nice state. I can’t speak highly enough about them.
There’s just something about family run businesses that you’ve got to love. While much of our work is with Fortune 500 companies (where decisions are slow in coming due to a long chain of command) and I love getting immersed in that rather educational environment, I’ll always love keeping a pleasant balance with a few good family businesses in our client portfolio. Sometimes you just need to exit the big world of business and get immersed in the mom & pop businesses that played a key role toward the success of our nation.
If you run a family business and you’re venturing out into the online world, give us a call or shoot us an email. We’ll be glad to review your business website and let you know how SEO can help turn your family business into a successful one (even during economically challenging times like these).
