Promotional Flash Drives by CFgear

by Sozo Firm Staff on August 15, 2008

Occasionally, I take the time to do a brief overview of a client. Today’s featured client will be none other than the family run, South Dakota flash drive company, CFgear.com. Sozo Firm has now provided services to CFgear since June of 2007, and we haven’t regretted any moment of it. When I choose to partner with a client, I’m very picky. We get swamped with inquiries from businesses asking for help with web marketing & SEO on a regular basis. If we took on every project we could, it would be impossible for us to be successful with each one. I could hire some more staff, but I enjoy keeping the company small and manageable. We’ve got a great flow of projects constantly coming in, and I’d much rather be selective and choose projects I personally can enjoy than be desperate for funds and accept projects I have absolutely no interest in.

One such company that approached us over a year ago was CFgear.com. Their product offering is quality, custom USB flash drives. The flash drive marketplace is pretty well saturated with competitors, ranging from promotional product distributors to memory storage companies. What attracted me to CFgear was their similarity to my company’s customer focus: they go out of their way to help each prospective customer. In a greedy world like the one we live in today, it’s becoming more and more difficult to find a “personal” company for services you need. Sozo Firm is just about finished conducting an ecommerce customer service study (we’ll be publishing the results shortly), and I’ll have to say that I was quite disappointed with the pitiful treatment provided by many of the companies we purchased from. You really have to choose between quality customer service & bare bone pricing. I’ve always been fairly frugal, but the stress experienced when dealing with an ecommerce site that has cold service is enough to scare me into paying a fair premium more for decent service. CFgear isn’t the cheapest flash drive company, but their friendly service and care for detail has hundreds of customers praising them. I’m not hesitant to recommend them either - even if we didn’t have a contract with them.

Along with providing search engine optimization & strategic web marketing consultant services for CFgear, we’ve also helped them build a growing number of micro websites. I won’t bore you with my philosophy underlying micro sites, but I’ve been pleased with the overall success of this particular promotional method for CFgear. In summary, a finely honed miniature website can help CFgear specifically target a particular marketing niche. For example, with their BulkFlashDrives.com site, they can spend the entire website focusing on company reps planning to make purchases of high volume imprinted flash drives; with their CollegeFlashDrives.com site, they can reach out directly to universities, community colleges & other higher academic institutions with collegiate branded USB drives; with MusicFlashDrives.com, they’re targeting rock ‘n’ roll bands & other musicians and music groups with USB music albums. We’re planning to take this specific niche marketing on toward many other sectors also.

CFgear works not only with imprinting a company’s name onto a quality flash drive but also develops preload solutions such as entire music albums (for bands), student handbooks (for colleges), marketing portfolios (for businesses), textbooks & quizzes (for schools), latest inventory lists (relying on data pulled from your website), videos, and much more. With CFgear’s flash drive solutions, you can set up the USB drive so that each time it is inserted into a computer, a small screen pops up featuring your branding (and perhaps links to your website). These files can be nonerasable so the marketing branding will keep going on and on with each use. CFgear also offers flash drive duplication services and can pretty much do most anything you want - as long as it deals with customizing USB flash drives.
