A Busy 2010 for Sozo Firm

by Sozo Firm Staff on January 19, 2010

2010 has started off with a bang! In the flurry of activities we’ve been certainly busy here. Our move to our new offices took place a bit later than desired, but we’re almost settled down now at 73 East Forrest Avenue in Shrewsbury, PA. A key aspect of the “busy-ness” is some major restructuring taking place including long term strategic planning for the future of Sozo Firm.

The world of SEO is a rapidly changing one, and, as more and more companies begin offering search engine marketing and optimization services, the competitive turf has become increasingly crowded. Our CEO, Andrew Jensen, has always been an entrepreneurial wizard (as some say) and has been talking for some time about “diversification” and “marketing existing talents.” Per Aaron Walls’ advice (which he’s continually reiterated over the past couple of years), we plan to use our web marketing know-how to promote several new services in the months to come.

Our service focus now includes “creativity, marketing and consulting.” Our informal divisions of the company will be as follows:

  1. Sozo Ad Agency
  2. Sozo Creative
  3. Sozo Logic

Sozo Ad Agency will be our marketing division, offering paid search engine marketing, organic search engine marketing, blog & microsite marketing and online reputation services.

Sozo Creative will be our creative division (that was a no brainer!), offering web design (such as the major new website we’re presently working on for CFgear), photography (commercial, product, real estate, portrait, etc), video, music, art, writing & magic (with our school & community magician program).

Sozo Logic will be our consulting division primarily focusing, initially, on business efficiency and targeting small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

We plan to implement the three new divisions in incremental phases throughout 2010 so that by the fall all three divisions will be fully operational. While we will continue to offer full fledged SEO services nationally (which is what we are primarily known for), we hope to become even more involved in our local service areas (York, PA & Baltimore, MD) through our business consulting and creative arms.

There are exciting days ahead for Sozo Firm. To those of you who are clients, we thank you for your patience during our latest transition to our new office space. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call to stop by and tour our new facilities.

Sozo Photo Studio – Creative Photography

by Sozo Firm Staff on December 23, 2009

As 2009 comes to a close, we’ve been doing a lot of deep contemplation here at Sozo Firm and drawing up our long term, multi year strategy plan for business. While I’ll just briefly mention some of our goals in this post, I’m primarily writing this to announce the launch of Sozo Photo Studio, a creative photography service of Sozo Creative, our creativity division. We’ve been providing professional photography services for some time, primarily with product imagery for company websites & catalogs. Sozo Photo Studio will take our photographic services to the next level, and we’re excited about this opportunity to help Sozo Firm become even more deeply involved with the local communities through this creative venture. We just launched the photo studio website a few days ago and plan to develop the online portfolio through some TFP model shoots over the next couple of weeks. We’ve run a number of “ads” on Craigslist and have been pretty pleased with the response to date. If the photo studio takes off (as we hope), we’ll be pouring even more resources into it in the months to come.

Regarding the “multi year strategy plan” for Sozo Firm, we’re planning to make “Sozo Firm Inc” proper the umbrella business broken into three distinct divisions:

  1. Creativity
  2. Marketing
  3. Consulting

The creativity division will be grouped under Sozo Creative, the marketing division under Sozo Ad Agency, and the consulting division under Sozo Logic. We’ll need to build websites for each of the three main divisions and then, of course, build an entirely new website for SozoFirm.com. Each of the three main divisions will offer a specific range of services. In some cases, we’ve had to do some  major restructuring of existing services in order to make the business flow more logical. It’s all part of a growing business, and we can’t wait to see what 2010 holds in store for Sozo Firm.

In a future blog post, I’ll detail the services which each division will offer.

SEO Content Writers Sometimes Humor Me

September 16, 2009

Even before the economy crashed, we’ve always received a steady stream of emails from “seo content writers” asking for work. Sometimes their contact information ends up in a dedicated folder within my Outlook and, more often than not, their email is just deleted. A couple times, I’ve even thought of setting up a page with [...]

There’s just something about family run businesses

September 9, 2009

Had a great meeting with a potential client yesterday (offers a wide variety of insurance in York, PA). There’s just something that attracts me to family run businesses, whether it’s CFgear in South Dakota, Stephen Case’s network of non profits or, in this case, the Nicholas Insurance Agency. Of course, it’s partially because I can [...]

Swamped With Work During the 2009 Recession

July 9, 2009

Is it just us or are clients really returning in full swing back to their internet marketing firms. As with most web based ad agencies & search marketing firms, we experienced the valley right before Christmas 2008 and it continued through late May. However, the emails & phone calls asking for proposals & quotes have [...]
